A patient discusses her experience at Evolve Physical Therapy using B Strong blood flow restriction (BFR) bands rehabbing from a left total knee replacement (arthroplasty). She compares her recovery to when her right knee arthroplasty two years ago without the use of the B Strong BFR bands.
What was your injury?
"I had a total knee replacement done on my left knee 10 months ago, two years prior to that I had a knee replacement on my right knee. After my surgery I had a lot of swelling, bruising, pain in my joint. For my knee replacement, the B Strong bands helped get my muscles back into shape with strength and stability."
Describe your experience with the B Strong BFR bands?
"My overall experience was that I didn't have the knee joint pain like I did with my first surgery. I had a quicker recovery, I was active quicker, I was able to take a trip 3 months after my surgery and be able to take stairs - be able to get out of a chair without having to push myself out of the chair because I had the strength in my legs that I needed to have to be able to be back as an active 70 year old woman."
What are the benefits of using the B Strong BFR bands?
"My recovery was quicker. I looked forward to coming for my physical therapy because I knew that it wasn't going to be so painful. I liked the fact that I was able to get back to my everyday activities without assistance. It was something that I could do on my own because I was building strength quickly in my legs and I did not have as much pain. Emotionally it was helpful because I looked forward to coming knowing that I wasn't going to be in so much pain and be so totally exhausted by the time I got through with my physical therapy session."
Would you recommend using the B Strong BFR bands?
"I would highly recommend using the B Strong bands just because of the quick recovery that I had and the overall experience without a lot of pain and discomfort."
